How to use the App
There are actually 3 ways you can use your new App.
① Training mode — The most important way to improve your game is to take an out from 4 up to 167 (excluding bogey numbers) and practice only 1 out from this group for a whole week (or longer). Do this every day until you remember what all the most common misses leave you in a 3-dart turn. Give yourself a goal — say you want to learn 3 outs by the end of the month. Once you do, you are a master of those 3 outs. Repeat until you learn them all. The app makes this easier and faster than traditional methods like flash cards.
For training you will want the wrist lock band or a tablet stand next to you while throwing — the wrist band is the smoothest way as you stay in throwing position. You can buy one by tapping the Shop Equipment box on the lower-left of your app scoring screen, or visit the Equipment Guide.
Remember: the app is more about the misses and how to recover than just giving you the absolute best route!
② Match mode — Wear the app while in a match to guide you to the best winning combinations in real time.
③ Quick-pocket mode — Take your phone out of your pocket before your turn, input your out, and get your route. Although effective, this approach can create reliance on the app rather than building memory. 🙂
Tap the switch at the top-left of the board to enter Checkout Master™ Mode — the tool's tournament view: grayscale screen, silenced sounds (with a short vibration on supported phones), and no win sparkle. Use the slider beneath to dim for venue lighting. Tap again to exit.
While Match Mode is on, the app stays silent so it won't disturb play. By default it also keeps the phone still — no buzz on the coin toss or route holds. Turn this on if you'd like vibration feedback during Match Mode.
Vibration feedback is on by default during regular play. Turn this off if you'd like the phone to stay still when Match Mode is off.
Enter your score at the bottom of the app. Type any score from 170 down to 2. The number pad on your phone instantly disappears and the score updates. For scores between 2 and 19, the number pad needs to be closed manually. If you tap a black area on the app while the number pad is open it will go away. Alternatively, hit Go or Enter on the number pad for scores 2–19.
Do this to get the correct route for a 3 dart finish. Otherwise you may be throwing at a 2 dart route when you need a 3 darts route.
| Element | Meaning |
|---|---|
| OUT | Confirms this is your remaining score to zero out. |
| Big Number | Your current remaining score. Updates after every tap. |
| ↺ UNDO | Reverses your last hit and restores the previous score and route. Supports multiple undos. When the score returns to white, you are back at the initial route state. |
Switching checkouts is a press & hold, not a tap. I appear with a yarn ball as a reminder to keep holding — until it locks in the ALTERNATE or PRIMARY route. I'm off by default, and sometimes I wander off on my own!
Tap the segment you actually hit. The grid shows your current target in the middle column, with its physical board neighbours to the left and right. Three rows represent the segments: Doubles (top) · Triples (middle) · Singles (bottom).
| Button | Colour | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| T20 | Blue, blinking outline | Your current target. Always in the middle column, with its board neighbours to the left and right. |
| D16 | Green | Good leave. Strong position or the preferred miss side of a triple. |
| D16✦ | Green + ✦ star | Best leave. Preferred double waiting. |
| D8✦ | Gold + ✦ star | Non-preferred direct double. When tapped, it leaves a non-preferred direct double — finishable, but this double (e.g. D3, D7) is less reliable etc. |
| 18 | Solid gold (no star) | Warning. Landing here leaves an odd number below 40. |
| 19 | Red | Usually a worse leave. You'll need to reset after this one. |
| BUST | Orange + stripe pattern | Bust. Goes below zero or leaves 1. Hatched stripes reinforce the warning. |
| D20 | Purple | Winning double. Hit this to reach exactly zero. Win animation fires. |
All sounds are generated in-browser (Web Audio API) — no audio files are downloaded.
| Parameter | Sound |
|---|---|
| Button | Cheek pop |
| Undo | Slap |
| Switching primary ↔ alternate route | Low Buzz |
| Bust | Low burst |
| Checkout Win | 3 notes |
| On checkout | Bull grunt |
| Label | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| D + number | Double segment (×2) | D20 = 40 pts |
| T + number | Triple segment (×3) | T20 = 60 pts |
| Number only | Single segment | 20 = 20 pts |
| Bull | Outer bull = 25 pts | Bull → D20 finishes 65 |
| DBull | Bullseye = 50 pts. Valid checkout finish. | DBull alone finishes 50 |
| → | Separates consecutive darts | T20 → D16 = throw T20 then D16 |
Wild misses are numbers hit that are not on the primary Miss Grid.
For example, you were aiming at T20 and you hit T15. At this point you must hit the button.
Once the button is pressed the secondary miss grid is shown. Since the T15 was hit, long press the 15 button to see the T15 button then TAP it. Your score automatically updates and returns to the primary Miss Grid.
A built-in subtraction calculator for live scoring — useful when you want to track a whole leg, not just a single checkout. Press & hold the Calc button (below the Match Mode switch at the top-left) to open it.
How it works
Full scoreboards for the classic pub and league games, 2–4 players (teams where noted). Tap a number for a single, or arm DOUBLE/TRIPLE first. Undo rewinds a mis-tapped turn in any game.
| Game | How To Play |
|---|---|
| Cricket | Close 20–15 and the Bull by hitting each three times (marks show as / X ⊗). Once you’ve closed a number and your opponent hasn’t, further hits score points. First to close everything with the lead wins. MPR (marks per round) is tracked live. |
| Cutthroat | Cricket in reverse: hitting a number you’ve closed gives points to everyone who hasn’t closed it. Lowest score wins, so points are a punishment. Best with 3–4 players. |
| 3-in-Bed | A cricket variant rewarding precision. Alongside the numbers sit three master rows — T (triple), D (double) and 3B (three-in-a-bed). Darts landed on a number can be converted up into a master row to bank their points. The bull converts too: a DBull feeds D, three single bulls feed 3B. |
| Shang-Hai | Work the numbers 1 through 20 in order, one number per round, scoring only that round’s number; highest total wins. Hitting the single, double and triple of that number in one round is a “Shanghai” (never on the 1s). Two optional toggles: instant win on a Shanghai (off by default), and serpentine order, which reverses the throwing order each round. |
| 501 / ’01 | Head-to-head race from a fixed total (501 by default — tap GAME for 301, 701 and so on) down to exactly zero. You must finish on a double (or DBull); overshooting is a bust and the turn is voided. Enter each visit dart-by-dart or as a whole-turn total, then tap Done to hand off. A live 3-dart average sits beside each player. |
| Dart Calculator | The single-player engine behind ’01 play — and the quickest way to learn the mechanics of the ’01 games. Subtracting each visit yourself teaches you what a bust is, why the finish must land on a double, and which leaves are checkoutable. Once a leave is a 2- or 3-dart out, the recommended route appears — so you learn the checkouts as you score. |
Checkout Master™ routes and your Custom Routes are shown during ’01 games, so the finish you have trained is the finish you see at the board.
| Element | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Share icon (left) | Opens SMS with a pre-filled link to the tool. |
| Share icon (right) | Opens the native share sheet (WhatsApp, AirDrop, etc.). |
| Stop Missing / Start Winning | Red-white-blue gradient text on either side of the input. Links to D-Artist: The Competitive System for 501 & Tournament Play — available on Amazon. Opens in a new tab. |
On the Cricket and 501 setup screens, flick the Vs. Bot switch to play a solo game against the computer. It fills the opposing side with a randomly-named opponent that takes its own turns automatically — in Cricket (Regular, Cutthroat and 3-in-Bed), in Shanghai, and in 501.
Right next to it is the Skill selector. Leave it on RND and each bot plays at its own random standard — a mixed bag, like facing different real opponents. Or lock every bot to a fixed level: L·M (low-medium), Med, M·H (medium-high) or High. Higher settings mean sharper aim, bigger scores and fewer misses. Your pick is remembered and applies to both Cricket and 501.
This app runs fully offline — no internet is needed to score games. An internet connection is only used for RC registration, Play Online, the license check, saved-name sync, custom-route backup and updates.
Important: if you ever clear your browser’s cache or site data, the app’s stored copy on your device is deleted along with it. Connect to the internet once and open the app — it reinstalls itself in seconds and your access restores automatically. Until that one online open, the icon may not start. After it, you’re fully offline-ready again.
Your routes. Your rules. Your game.
Override any checkout with your own preferred darts — because great players train deliberately. The default routes are engineered to build pro-level match instincts from the ground up. But if you're working on something specific, a custom set keeps your training locked on target. Not ready to commit? Hit the green button to fall back on the defaults — no harm done. Want to push further? Edit any route, layer in an alternate, and build the checkout system that takes your game where you want it to go.
MID TURN SWITCH: Useful if you want to leave, say, 7→D20 after a miss instead of 15→D16. It doesn't have to be out 47 — it can be any leave you set. With the Mid Turn switch OFF, only directly inputting score 47 into the Enter Score box will display 7→D20. With the switch ON, your custom route also appears mid-turn when you arrive at that score after a miss. To disable a route entirely, use the far-right ON/OFF switch.
